WELCOME TO THE WEBSITE OF
BLESSED
SARNELLI COMMUNITY!
Located in the Kensington section of inner city Philadelphia, we have served the needs of people on the streets for over ten years at the
Sarnelli House. Founded by the Redemptorist community of priests and brothers, our first location was on Diamond Street adjacent to Saint Boniface Church. When the Church closed, we formed the Blessed Sarnelli Community (BSC) as a nonprofit organization to continue the good work begun by many young adult volunteers. These days find us working on a new site for the Sarnelli House, which has actually been in the works for quite some time. Delays on permits from the City have particularly impeded the opening of the new house that is on Kensington Avenue. There we will again offer hospitality with and for people who are poor and abandoned. In the mean time, resident volunteers live at the Hofbauer House, which has become the base of our outreach mission to people on the streets. Many nonresident volunteers from the area and from outside of the city also gather here in service to people in need.
Blessed Sarnelli Community is an organization dedicated to
providing for the needs of people
who are poor and abandoned
with an emphasis on empowering young adults
to share in this commitment through
prayer, hospitality and service.
- Mission Statement -
The BSC is comprised of many people. We consider all who are served and those who volunteer, as well as our benefactors and those who remember us in prayer as members of the community. Over the years many young adult volunteers have befriended people who are poor and abandoned through our ministries. We are grateful for the many people who make the BSC who and what we are - people of all walks of life sharing whatever gifts we have with one another.
